PLANNING

RISK ASSESSMENT-

ACTORS COSTUMES

We will be using 3 boys to act as policeman in our opening sequence for the last few shots. We might also have 1 woman detective to create a convincing scene, and is also part of gender representation as we do not want to portray a negative view of women in power.

To ensure our actors costumes look authentic and realistic, we have thought very carefully about the clothing, props and shots we will use to create convincing police-like characters.

The clothing we will get our actors to wear are:

POLICEMEN

  • Black trousers
  • Black boots or trainers
  • Black top
  • Black jumper
  • Black gilet or jacket
  • Possibly a police hat.
  • police badges
  • Guns / walkie talkie

DETECTIVE
  • White shirt
  • Trousers
  • Smart jacket
  • Smart shoes
  • Minimal makeup
  • Gun

Actor make-up testing

This video shows our makeup testing. The white pale makeup gives a washed out and ill looking complexion, we used different types of makeup to show bruises around the neck and face we also created another dark grey/purple colour to emphasise dark under eye-bags. We used bruise coloured makeup to create a hand print shape on her neck to indicate that she's been strangled and abused, this is also shown through the blood and scratches on her face.

Actress profile:

Our chosen actress for our opening scene is Ruby Foy, who is part of our media group.
Ruby is perfect for the role because of her image, her age and her ability to perform professionally in front of a camera.

In the image you can see that Ruby's has hair that is suitable for the role as it is extremely long and we can style it to create an unwashed, scruffy look to portray the harsh conditions she is being kept in. Her defined jawline emphasises that her character has been starved and malnourished which makes the harsh conditions more convincing, her small figure also demonstrates this. It is also ideal that she is in our group, as she will be available when we need her for filming, instead of relying on a person who cannot always be available to film. This will speed up the process of filming.

We have made an animatic of our storyboard as a guide to show the duration of each of our shots and a rough idea of the movements of each shot when filming.

Props list:

* Water dripping from above (make a hole in a bottle of water and let it drip out)
* Chalk – for the markings made on the wall
* Spider web and possibly a spider
* Old, dirty bucket
* Dirty blanket
* Wooden objects for behind the bucket and blanket
* Makeup for bruises, scratches and dirt on the girls face and body
* Clothes for the girl – worn out, dirty t-shirt
* Axe
* Chain and padlock
* Excess wood to smash in half (instead of barn door)
* Red and blue flashing lights
* Drone – to take the aerial shot

SHOOTING SCRIPT

We created a shooting script to keep us on track and focused on what we need to achieve during our days of filming. We help ourselves stay organised by having a folder which we will take with us whenever we are shooting.

IDEA 2

After a lot of discussion our group decided on two final ideas to choose from. Idea 1 -was a romantic comedy which  involved a lot of match on action shots of a male and a female carrying out their morning routines and then going to work. The man would be dressed in a suit and carry a brief case, whereas the woman would have a young child and would be dressed in casual clothes. One of the shots that we envisioned was  of the man brushing his teeth and the camera looking at him through the mirror, and as he put his head down to spit, there would be a match on action shot and the woman would appear. The strengths of this idea was that is was original as a rom-coms are un-common and if it was filmed successfully would be a very engaging and good piece. However, the weaknesses were that it would be very hard to do with matching the camera angles exactly, it could seem quite cliche and predictable.

Idea 2- is completely different to the first idea with a genre of thriller/ psychological thriller. It included a man with a long axe walking in a very high class area. The audience would be unknown whether he was antagonist or protagonist. The shot that we visioned for this idea is a camera close up shot of his feet walking, and him carrying a long axe that he is swinging behind his feet. This would make the audience question whether he was a dangerous villain or perhaps a hero. The strengths of this idea was that it was much more realistic to shoot and would look very effective. However, the weaknesses of this idea was that we had no more ideas about the piece the than his feet walking.

This video presents our 9 key frames, we decided these were the most memorable shots and gave the best impression of our title sequence.

My Mood Board

I have created a mood board with pictures and ideas to express my thoughts and ideas that i could potentially develop and then incorporate within my final film opening idea. i have explored four genres that interest me and noted some information that inspires a vision for each different genre.
